Cyber Liability:

The internet is an effective business tool, but it is also something that can lead to harmful damage for your company if not protected or used properly. Cyber liability insurance is designed to mitigate losses from a variety of cyber incidents including data breaches, network damage and cyber extortion. It offers first and third-party protection for exposures arising out of internet communications and is the optimal front-line safety with anything cyber related.

Directors and Officers (D&O):

As professionals, and perfectionists, we never want a mistake to be made. Directors & Officers (D&O) is liability insurance which protects the management of a company, or the organization itself, due to legal action resulting from mistakes made directly by the directors and officers of that company. This type of insurance will safeguard your organization in many capacities. To learn more about how it can protect you, please call a Brown & Brown Empire State Producer today.

Employment Practices Liability:

We may think we know all of the rules and regulations regarding employment. This type of coverage is used in situations that can arise from: wrongful termination, sexual harassment, discrimination, invasion of privacy, false imprisonment, breach of contract, emotional distress, and wage & hour violations.  Most commonly, employment practices liability deals with laws and protections brought under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) of 1990, the Civil Rights Act of 1991, ADEA (Age Discrimination in Employment Act) of 1967, and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).[1][2] The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) interprets and enforces these laws. Learn more about in our Risk Management section.

Environmental/Pollution:

Pollution can be defined as anything that is present where it doesn't actually belong. There's no doubt a cleaner environment is a happier one, but incidents beyond our control can and do happen. Environmental and Pollution insurance covers costs such as Brownfield restoration & cleanup, and liability for injuries and deaths caused by pollution. Types of coverages offered include site pollution, contractor's pollution, mold & storage tanks and many more. (Check out our Risk Management page for more information regarding environmental and pollution insurances.)

General Liability:

Opening the doors to your business also means opening the doors to risk and possible incident. A General Liability insurance plan protects your company from claims arising from alleged bodily injury, personal injury or property damage liability. It also includes protection for services you render or products you sell where the coverage payments can include judgments, attorney fees, court costs or other related expenses.

Inland Marine:

Many businesses are, or will be going, "mobile," but in a different sense. Inland Marine insurance provides protection for property that is mobile in nature, such as tangible objects (contractor's equipment, transit, cargo, etc.) or intangible assets (builder's risk, installation, electronic data processing, etc.). It's important to protect those assets that aren't directly under our own roof.

Loss Sensitive Plans:

Taking a risk involves several variables, but it may be impossible to ever know them all. With a Loss Sensitive plan from Brown & Brown Empire State, you can stay protected against the unknown. In technical terms, this is a rating plan in which the final premium is dependent on the actual losses during the period the plan is in effect. This risk financing technique places upper limits on your, the insured's, costs if losses are high, but also requires the payment of a minimum premium in the event it experiences low losses or is loss-free. Thus, the risk financing costs tend to vary based on actual loss experience. This type of plan provides an incentive for you to emphasize safety and loss control activities. Deductible plans, retrospective rating plans, dividend plans, and retention plans are all examples of loss sensitive plans offered by Brown & Brown Empire State.

Professional Liability:

In many industries, a company will render services instead of producing a physical product. The transfer of those ideas and the meaning behind them need protection, too. (PLI), also known as Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII), but more commonly known as Errors & Omissions (E&O) in the US, is a form of liability insurance that helps protect professional advice and service providing individuals and companies from bearing the full cost of defending against a negligence claim made by a client, and damages awarded in such a civil lawsuit.

Property:

Mother Nature is fickle, especially in Central and Upstate New York. Property insurance provides protection against most risks may occur to your property, and includes specializations such as fire, flood, earthquake or boiler insurances. Contact us today to learn more about this type of coverage!

Risk Management:

With Brown & Brown Empire State Risk Management services, we identify and analyze exposure to loss for you, and take steps to minimize these exposures to levels acceptable to your company. Many times this involves methods or procedures not necessarily related to direct insurance coverages. Basic risk management procedures can involve techniques used to control losses (i.e. loss reduction, loss prevention or exposure avoidance), and risk financing techniques involving transfer of risk or retention of risk by your organization.

Surety & Bonds:

Protection provided by a bond is not insurance. Coverage under an insurance policy involves a two-party agreement whereas in a bond, the person who pays the premium, known as a principal, is bonded for an action by a surety for the benefit of a third-party commonly called a beneficiary. Bonds are distinguished between Surety bonds, which guarantee the performance of a contract, or Fidelity bonds, which protect against the dishonesty of employees. Umbrella:

Bodily injury and propery damage may occur in the course of your business operation, occasionally certain insurance policies won't cover everything. Wth Umbrella insurance there is no worry whether a certain policy will cover all of the damages. Instead, there is peace of mind knowing that your business is always protected.

Workers' Compensation:

A company's employees are certainly a businesses most valuable asset and they deserve to be protected and insured against injury in the workplace. Workers' Compensation, not only required by law, is insurance coverage for work-related illness and injury.

Also includes Excess Workers' Compensation.
